Week 20: Wednesday evening
As you can tell, it's been a couple of weeks since I blogged. Part of that has to do with an incredibly busy time getting a music and worship arts festival together, while the other part is that Mondays-Wednesdays have taken a different turn in terms of side-effects.
For instance, here it is 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday and I'm feeling rundown and puny, while the routine has been that by Wednesday I'm picking up speed. I'm certain it has to do with the huge amount of stress I put myself under. So, I've decided I really need to take it easy for a while.
Next week I get blood work done and it should tell me if there are changes that have brought this on.
Meanwhile, God continues to bring people into my path who are engaged in the same battle, but remind me of how blessed I have been thus far in treatment.
For instance, there's Steve, who went through treatment a couple of years ago and responded, but had a great many side-effects. Not only that, but within months of the treatment's end the virus was again soaring. Steve and I connected over the weekend, and recently decided to go through treatment again. It is my deep prayer that this time around his body is more accommodating to the treatment and that he responds ... for good. To God be the glory!
And then there was a phone call to the city desk I "just happened" to pick up in the newsroom. The caller was trying desperately to reach the local Hep C support group. In his words, "I'm stuck with this" and it is causing relationship problems with his girlfriend. Why is he stuck with the virus? He went through pegylated interferon treatment and his body had a severe reaction to the meds ... to the point of turning his skin yellow ... and he had to stop treatment.
All I can say is, "Dear Lord, bring a cure. Amen."
Grace and peace ... and prayers for a real cure.
